The day of Mon

I'm pretty sure I looked like a penguin this morning walking to work on the icy sidewalks with my mittens. You might be able to picture this too. Here's a cool photo of a picnic table.
Song of the morning: Get well soon  by Elaine

The only good thing about being sick is remembering how good you had it yesterday.

I ventured out to get some lunch and saw this cool balloon. I love when they are at this hovering stage, not enough helium to make it to the ceiling but just enough to stay afloat. Just hanging out, being a cool balloon.

Boldering for Birthdays

Happy Birthday Lauren!

Say hello to Lauren's cat Ozzie. I don't even like cats but this one is ok in my book, thanks to his dog-like attitude.

Song of the day: Do You Realize by The Flaming Lips

Watch out Wagner's, here I come!

What a way to start my drive home. Freezing rain on my car. Boo.

Happy Birthday Mater!

This isn't a very meaningful picture, I just though these oil and vinegar cruets were cool.

Today's song isn't meaningful either, but I like it anyway: A Million Ways by OK Go

The perfect compliment to my morning snooze session is always the snowblower right outside my bedroom window.

"There you go, having fun at work again."  As I run in circles around this tree to create a pattern with my footprints, while we are on a meter collection route. This is the life.
Song of the day: I'm Alright  by: Holy Water Buffalo

Haircut day

If I could cut my own hair, I would.
Song of the night: Little Red Corvette  by: Prince

How much peanut butter is too much?

Trick question - there is no such thing as too much peanut butter.

Dance to this one: Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Michael Bublé

1.5 hours late for work? There's still time for breakfast.

I love these little breakfast carts in the city. I used to walk by them every day, now I only do when something goes wrong on my commute like today. $2 for a large coffee and a bagel. Not bad.

Song of the day: Is It Any Wonder by Keane

It's a brisk but beautiful morning here in Iowa.

February 24th just seemed like a great day to start riding my bike to work again.

Yep, another day.

I do this 5 days a week, or 4 or 3....depends on how Mark and I feel. But the weather could always be worse, so that makes things better.
Song of the day: Cold Hard Bitch  by: JET

You gotta accentuate the positives.

Positive messages for school kids in our dodgeball gym.

Thank you Mr President(s) for the day off.

This is how I spent my day, making myself sick with awesome greasy hamburgers. This place is pretty awesome, especially because it is virtually unchanged since its introduction in the 1937 World's Fair.

White Manna Hamburgers, Hackensack, NJ

I'm pretty sure I already know you like my song of the day, Victoria. I hope you enjoy hearing it again: Naked As We Came by Iron & Wine

It was a run by fruiting!

This is among the most pathetic fruit bowls I've ever seen: an apple, three lemons, and an onion. At least Giuseppe won't get scurvy...

Song of the day: Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash

Going to the beach or going to the gym?

Home gym.

Moving day for Jon

I love the character of old buildings and apartments.  I found this embedded in the window frame of his 100 year old kitchen:
"Bless my little kitchen Lord and warm it with your love"

Song of the day: Moth's Wings by Passion Pit

A day is a day is a day.

The winter is melting away. Is this for good? Probably not, but it really feels like spring. I love the snow, but change is good too.

Song of the day: My Name Is Jonas by Weezer

Day: ....something, yeah. It's a new day!

The night before the Snow Moon, doing my taxes and going to a movie by myself.
Things are good.
Also, I haven't unpacked yet, except for a pair of socks.

Day 39: A few days late, but we have a good excuse

On our way out of civilization! This is just the start of some awesome scenery on the drive to the Adirondacks.

The definition of being snowed-in.

One cold ass at the bus stop. (The ass being mine)
Song of the day: Plasticities  by: Andrew Bird

Day 37: How long are we going for? A week?

Ok ok I'm not really bringing all this camping. This might be why they say not to go to the grocery store when you are hungry though...

Song of the day: Hummer  by: Foals  (chosen only for the name of the song)

Day 35: Make Fun Of Life

Gorgeous shot - and check out those guns!

I love massage therapy school.
Song of the day: The Fake Headlines  by: The New Pornographers

Day 34: Go My Favorite Sports Team!

Yeah, I don't care that its superbowl Sunday, except that I got to see this contraption:

For the serious cupcake transporter. Also, please note only a single remaining cookie-brownie in the background, which was quickly eaten.

Song of the day: Howlin' For You by The Black Keys

Day 33: Laundro-time

A different kind of sink photo and some really happy soap.
Song/video of the day: Google Chrome, Japan

Day 33: C is for Cookie-brownie bars

Don't exactly know what made me want to make this, just really did. Hope they come out as good as they look on the box.

Song of the day is one I hadn't heard in a long time:
Into the Ocean by Blue October

Day 32: That's a hell of a lot of snow!

Taken on my drive home. We've resorted to dump trucks to haul away the snow here in Iowa City.
Song of the day: Gold Guns Girls  by Metric

Day 32: Gettin' geared up...

...get excited! Horray gear!

What a long week and I'm glad its over. I actually talked to my mother tonight and then heard this song on the tv three times, so I think it fits for the song of the day:
Mama Said by The Shirelles

Day 31: ...If I hear you say that you're cold one more time.....

Coolest almost rotten banana ever. What did I do to make you want to die so quickly?
Song of the day: Past in Present  by: Feist

Day 31: Abominable Snowman Here We Come

Kevin from Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) is kickass - thanks for all the great tips, I could almost keep up with you on my sticky notes. High-five for winter camping and getting geared up.

Today's song is perfect for this blog: 1000 Miles Per Hour by OK Go

Day 30: Happy Groundhog Day!

Attack of the killer pastacyclops! Ok that doesn't flow as well as pastasaurus does, but nevertheless not a single bowtie was spared.

In honor of Groundhog Day, the song of the day should be I Got You Babe (from the movie). But its not. It's Wake Up by Arcade Fire.

Day 30: Snow Boot?

I'm sorry car, you're not going anywhere.
Song of the day: Groundhog  by: Jack Reedy and His Walker Mountain String Band

Day 29: February fool's day

Ok that's not a real thing, but why do we only have one of those a year?

Here's one of the best things about a cold winter night.
